2009 Metro photos
OLD SCHOOL!
Below is the cover of the Sunset HS newspaper in 1982. Yes, there
was metro league ski racing way back then. In fact, high school
ski racing in Oregon started in the mid 60's. So there's a little
history lesson for you. Notice the bamboo gates, the straight skis,
and the padded race sweater. Tools of the trade in the 80's....
Below is Sunset ski team 1983. I'm the guy with
the circled head.
You might also recognize coach Dick Cartwright (current Jesuit asst.),
middle row, 2nd from the left. Top row, 3 in from the left is Caroline
Cato, sister of Christine Cato. She's the one that was announcing
some of the awards at Cato this year.
