Hello and welcome to the Aloha-Southridge ski team website. Here you will find all sorts of
information about our team, along with
pictures and videos to give you a glimpse of what we do and how we do
it. If you are an intermediate to advanced skier, we hope you will
consider joining the ski team. Never raced before? Doesn't
matter. We'll teach you! In fact, about 80% of the people
that ski in our high school league had not raced before signing up.
We work hard, but we also play hard and have a lot of fun. Click
here for a glimpse of what high school ski racing is all about.
If you think you might be interested in joining the team or just have
some questions, please don't hesitate to contact head coach Sean Mailey:

Southridge........just ask the receptionist for Sean Mailey and they'll
forward your call to his desk)
A little team history: Aloha HS and Southridge HS are
actually two separate ski teams that compete in the
metro league. When
Southridge HS opened their doors in 1999, roughly half the members of
the Aloha ski team ended up transferring to Southridge. And since
that time, the two teams have done everything as one entity, sharing the
same coaching staff, training facilities, fundraising efforts, etc.
Our team is looking for skiers of intermediate ability or above, have a
strong work ethic, and don't mind having FUN! Past ski racing
experience is a plus, but the majority of new people that join our team
have never actually raced.
DOUBLE METRO CHAMPIONS in 2009!
Both the Southridge boys and girls teams won the Metro League
Championship in 2009, first time in school history. This was the 3rd
metro league title for the Southridge girls team in the last 5 years,
and the first metro league title ever for the boys team. The STATE
championship races didn't go as expected with several racers crashing in
tough conditions at Mt Bachelor. Aloha HS had just a
few racers on the roster in '09, so they are in a rebuilding process. We
also
had one racer from International School Beaverton (ISB) and one racer
from Arts & Communication (ACMA) on our team roster this past season.
The future looks bright for the
2009-10 season. We lost some valuable
skiers to graduation, but we are a very deep & motivated team, and
we look forward to getting after it this coming winter.
Traditionally we get more than
a dozen of our racers attending summer ski camp at Mt Hood, and that is
always a HUGE benefit that some high school teams don't take advantage
of. We are lucky to have the only summer ski area in the nation so
close by.
